So... I'm planning on getting an iPod, as well as a new laptop. I think. Question is, should I get an iPod shuffle, or a full fledged iPod? The thing is, I don't listen to music that often, and I don't have the huge music collection that [livejournal.com profile] rosefox does. So a shuffle might be a good option for me. Even the 512 meg version could be of use. I could certainly use the extra money for peripherals and software for the new laptop.

On the other hand, if I get a full blown iPod, I'll have a UI, and a place to store my entire music collection. It's tempting to think of it as also being a spare 40 gig backup drive, but (a) I plan to do a weekly backup to CD and a monthly backup to DVD and (b) I think that necessitates dumping all the songs and some fiddling. Not a big deal, but annoying.

So. Do I go for the shuffle, or the full-on 40 gig? Decisions decisions. And while I wait, I'm sure an 80 gig iPod is in the works somewhere.

So, work today is sucking. No interesting people to talk to, one pissy co worker, hardly anything to do, and I'm incredibly tired. Also, my therapist canceled our wednesday session due to spraying for ants in the building, so I'll have to do a phone session on thursday at 6:00.

On the plus side, I might make it to S&P tomorrow if (a) new sleep meds work, and I get a good night of sleep and (b) I get any indication that people would want me to go. Otherwise I figure I'll either (a) get the old meds again or (b) stay home and pack.

I'm really looking forward to getting the hell out of San Francisco and moving to NY. This place fails to feel like home anymore, and I'm tired of the constant waiting for things to change. I'm tired of waiting on a new laptop, a new iPod, etc...

I want things now. Waiting is something I've had enough of. I want to walk into a store and say *bam* New iPod. I want out of the household I've been living in, with all of the financial worries and problems it's been having (aparently, out rent check bounced. All my money is in use right now, so I couldn't fix it even if I wanted to. Which I don't.). I want to get paid back for my share of the car.

Mostly, though, I want to be not here in this office doing nothing all day. This job is a waste of my time , but it earns me a lot of money.

So, [livejournal.com profile] rosefox got a job offer from Bryant Park Conservancy.

Despite the best efforts of some (for now) anonymous fuck who thought it would be a fun idea to slander her in order to try and keep her from getting the job.

Hey, asshole. Whoever you are, your email was not as anonymous as you think it was. Given a few days of effort, we'll find out who you really are.

Godddamn fucking looser internet stalkers. Hate hate hate.

Or so the person who created the setting claims. Anyhow, as a long time gamer, I like to know enough about game mechanics to be able to tweak my PCs in differnt ways. I don't do uber munchkins, but I do sometimes use the rules in order to have my character be a bit sronger, able to do what I want, etc...

I'm not sure what system we'll be using though, and so that limits my options a bit. It might be the Hero system, or GUPS. No one is saying. Mostly, I don't expect my character to be unbeatable in combat, but I'd like him to be fairly tough. I've set him up as having strong martial arts skills, superpowers based on internal energy ("chi"), a bundle of neuroses, and a vulnerability to sexual release (all his powers go away and he gets really weak).

I'd like for him to be able to use his chi in combat in order to power up his punches, make himself harder to hurt, leap like he was on wires, heal, deal blows at a distance, and possibly a few other abilities. but I want him to have a limited number of "chi" in any given day.

It'll be intertesting to see how this all works out.
